In January 2008 - Falck Renewables (the developers) applied to build and operate a five turbine, 10MW wind farm on the Hill of Nigg, in Easter Ross. The turbines will be around 400 feet (125 metres) high - that’s three times the height of Tarbet Ness lighthouse. Nigg Awareness Group has co-ordinated objectors’ formal response to the proposal. The planning application, our detailed written submission in response to it and also the responses of statutory consultees (including Community Councils) are under review by the Highland Council.

Much of the Environmental Statement and application submitted in January 2008 was inadequate and Highland Council told the Developer, amongst other things, to re-submit the visual material, and carry out better bird surveys. The months have ticked by, and the expected dates for resubmission have been delayed and delayed. Falck currently states that the proposal and an Addendum to the ES will be submitted in March 2010.
